Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Where the Crawdads SingMy rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story made me cry a number of times. It was a poignant story of survival, love and loss. A child left to fend for herself, finding a love of the earth around her and thriving because of it. A little girl surviving with so little help from the precious few people who offered her kindness and helped her function in the fringes of a society that shunned her.

The author’s prose and the narrator’s performance merged together in perfect harmony to deliver a heart-wrenching experience. A life story so sad yet so full of hope – a girl abandoned so full of potential. A reflective tale that pries out the emotions the main character is feeling from your own heart.

This is a great story and I would recommend this to friends in need of inspiration and hope in their lives.
